Auditor General's report details delays for CPP disability payments

A recent CBC article discusses the Auditor General's recent finding that processing times for Canada Pension Plan payments has been taking on average 884 days.

This means that some Canadians with disabilities have been scrambling for income when they are entitled to payments from the CPP, having worked and made their contributions to it. 

Meanwhile, the Dept. of Employment and Social Development has a service standard in place, saying that decisions on disability cases should be within 120 days.

Thankfully, now that the Auditor General's report has made this clear, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos has said fixing this problem "is an immediate priority for his department, and plans were already underway to accelerate decision making and rectify some of the snafus."
