Juan is the founder of Carranza, Barristers and Solicitors.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from York University graduating with honours in 1989. In 1992 he graduated from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law school. He also holds an MBA from Queen's University.

 

Juan has worked representing accident victims since 1992.  He has appeared before several courts and tribunals including: the Superior Court of Ontario, Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Canada, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, CRTC, Immigration Refugee Board, CPP and WSIB.

 

Juan is the first Central American to be called to the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is a past president and  member  of  the  Board of Directors of Salvaide, a

 

non-profit  organization.  He has been a member of the

 

 

Latin American Community Centre, and Salvadorean Settlement Services, and has volunteered with several organizations including CLASP, Centre for Spanish Speaking People, and CSCDES.  He was the producer of the 1994 community TV program “Que Pasa Aqui?”  He is a former news reporter with the radio show “Central America this Week” on CKLN.  Juan is a member and past chair of the board of Salvaide.  Juan was honoured with the “Somos Capaces” award of the Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples, and the Law Society of Upper Canada’s award for Community Service in 2000.

 

Juan is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and Ontario Brain Injury Association.

 

His interests include literature, music, communications, soccer and chess.
