Growing up in Saskatchewan, Anu witnessed hard work and a sense of community, which is the key to every aspect of her practice.

Anu brings cultural competence to her clients’ cases. There is an unspoken understanding between Anu and her clients with respect to intergenerational issues, cultural traditions and religious practices. Anu has a unique ability to effectively tell her clients' stories of loss. 

She has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, Review Tribunal and Workplace and Safety Appeals Tribunal.

In her personal life, Anu is one of the founders of the South Asian Legal Clinic. The clinic provides ethno-specific services to the most vulnerable members of society. She served on the Board of Skill for Change for three years, a non-profit agency providing learning and training opportunities for newcomers.

Anu firmly believes in access to justice and fair compensation for victims pursuing insurance claims.

Noteworthy Cases

• A newcomer to Canada was on her way to her first day of work when she was struck by a car as a pedestrian.  She had a previous history of complicated back surgeries in her home country many years ago. The Insurer refused to pay compensation for her loss of earnings because it was their view that the victim did not have any Canadian work experience and her injuries were related to her back problems before the accident.  Anu contacted various witnesses in the victim’s home country and tracked down her doctors, medical records, newspaper articles and pictures relating to her active and successful life before she came to Canada.   Anu built the client's story that led to a significant settlement for income loss for this newcomer to Canada.
• A victim in a car accident was struggling to return to work at her heavy job in a factory.  She was missing days and going on and off short term disability, and her employer was getting angrier and angrier.  Her employer terminated her employment and cited “downsizing” as the reason.  She came to see Anu without any work and any entitlement to disability benefits.  Anu negotiated fair compensation for the loss of her job,  monies for medical benefits and reinstatement of long term disability benefits.
